Music Together in Susquehanna Valley is seeking permanent part-time contracted teachers to share this extraordinary, joyful and educational program with families in the West Shore, Harrisburg, and Hershey areas.

Experience and Requirements
Applicants must be able to sing in tune and keep a steady beat (and-- did we mention?!-- must love children). Playing a portable instrument is a plus but not a requirement. A music or teaching degree is not required for this position.

- Comfortable leading singing groups and large movement activities with adults and young children.

- Singing: able to sing in tune without accompaniment and strong voice that can lead a large group
- Moving: able to move and dance with accurate rhythm including the ability to lead lightly choreographed dances
- Organized and on top of adminstrative tasks (i.e. lesson planning, use of materials, contacting caregivers)
- Experience working with young children (professionally or as a caregiver/parent)
- Comfortable in an informal learning environment
- Not afraid to be SILLY!
Responsibilities
- Teaching weekly Music Together® classes to mixed age groups of children (age 0-5) and their families
- Effectively execute the Music Together curriculum and educate families about the developmental benefits of music making in the home environment
- Organize and practice weekly lesson plans
- Learn new music each term (recordings and teacher songbook provided in advance of each semester)
- Create a trusting relationship with parents and children
- Participation at Music Together in Susquehanna Valley community events
- Opportunity to substitute for classes when needed
- Basic administrative duties related to teaching (IE. Attendance, CD and Songbook distribution, communication with families, canceling classes)
- Promotion of classes in the local community
What's the process?

- Interview & Audition: Meet with Gloria. Observe a class (if you've never been to/participated in one), not necessarily in that order. Show your ability to sing and move to music.
- Training:
• Submit a video to Music Together Worldwide (they will specify, but it'll be singing and moving)
• Attend and pass online training course consisting of six 3.5-hour live interactive sessions on Zoom, plus five self-study modules, for a total of approximately 26–30 hours.
- Apprenticeship: complete an 8-week apprenticeship with our Center Director. (Appropriate next steps following apprenticeship will be determined by the center director.)
Teachers pay TBD based on experience, skills, and class size.
